Silfana Jean Pelealu

Consultant, Indonesia

Silfana Jein Pelealu came to know Christ in high school. There, she spent many of the best moments of her life with friends who loved the Lord, worshipping and praying together.

She studied theology at Universitas Kristen Indonesia Tomohon, but became so busy with her studies and social life that her spiritual life became dry and fruitless. Eventually, she was drawn the international mission organization Hannah International Mobilization from South Korea. There she was brought again to her first love in Christ through the lives of the missionaries she met. She officially joined Hannah not long after, growing in her love for Christ, in intercession, and in power. Soon after she completed her work with Hannah, God prepared the way for her to join Compassion International in 2009 as a Training Specialist, and then a Partnership Facilitator.

In 2017 she resigned from Compassion to be a full-time mother, and not long after that she heard about the ministry of LeaderSource. God made the way straight for her to join in January 2019 as a BHL consultant. She is very excited to continue pursuing her calling and passion for the local church through building healthy leaders!

Silfana is married to Serdy Makigawe. They live with their two boys in Tomohon, North Sulawesi Indonesia.

During Silfana's time with LeaderSource, she has noticed the following paradigm shifts in her life:

  • Union with Christ: from daily routine to pros, meaning “to enjoy Him forever.”
  • Leader development: from event-based, a partial approach based more on competency and instruction, to program-based, an intentional and holistic approach (ConneXions Model).
  • How a healthy church is built: from running effective ministry activities or programs to building people.
  • What leadership is: from influence to movement.
  • Building and equipping people: from teaching to sharing life, doing whatever is necessary to nurture life and shape culture so that everyone functions properly according to God’s specific calling.
  • Deep conviction of the urgency for leader development and building healthy leaders, starting with my personal commitment to “Be one” and “Build many.”
